It all started in September, 1973 when I bought my first bike; A 1971 BSA B25 Glodstar 250, for $500. On Wednesday the 31st October, 1973, I road the bike on a 1 day permit to the driver testing center on Falstaff Road, Toronto. In the day, there were no provisions for a motorcycle learner permit. You simply wrote the test and if you passed you made an appointment for your road test. You were then given a permit that permitted you to drive to the testing center for the test. If you passed, you rode home. If you failed....You made alternative arrangement to get you and the bike home as the permit was basically a one way ticket.
I rode to the testing center on a chilly overcast day and waited in the building for my turn. Well, wouldn't you know it,didn't we have a freak snow storm that left a healthy dumping of snow on the driver's course. And no, not nice light powdery snow, heavy wet and very slippery. Surprisingly, a navigated the whole course and passed.

This is not my personl Bike - for some reason, I can't find ant pics yet- But, this is what the bike looked likewith the exception of the handle bars. These are stock where I had flat bars. Pretty much a necesity keep the fron wheel down on acceleration.
The 1974 Norton Commando really flies...
